But when he was awake and well, he starts of by saying: Lastly, I feel like this book was neither bad or good but my favorite character (Caleb) was basically incapacitated for almost the whole book and it diminished the amount of comedic relief. Someone write this fanfiction and link it to me please. The series progressively includes Egyptian, Greek, and (I think?) Arcadian mythology, so I think it would be PERFECTION. Something I want to throw out there, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but just IMAGINE a Percy Jackson/The Kane Chronicles/Chronicles of Nick crossover. On the bright side, it makes the series so rich and intricate but on the not-so-bright-side(?), it makes the series more susceptible to confusion and could easily lose the reader. Something that threw me off while reading was the astonishing amount of detail that the reader is made to remember. I also love how a group of crows are called a murder, and I do wish the crow/murder joke was made, but alas, it was not. “Please, do catch me up before any more loathsome creatures come perching on my sill, and singing me such lovely death serenades.” The best part of this book and the series is Nick’s wit and humor. I forever mention the hilarity that is Nick Gautier. That being said, I still enjoy the series and will keep buying the new books when they are released. But to many who have been with the series for a while, still manage to watch (or in this case read) it because it holds a place in their heart (me). Some people think it’s been dragged on too much (me) and others are too in love with the series to even care. To give a brief description of my reading experience… I’d say this book is a lot like the TV show Supernatural. Nick has finally accepted his fate, now he must learn to defy his destiny, and the dark, deadly forces that will stop at nothing to destroy everyone he loves so that they can again return to the world of man and own it. The one person who will hand him over to his enemies to get back the life they lost.

And without knowing it, Nick has just embraced the one person he should never have trusted. Now that they know where he is, they will stop at nothing to reclaim him.

And no one wants him more than the dark gods who created his race. Something that’s hard to do while trying to stay off the menus of those who want his head on a platter. But now that he’s accepted the demon that lives inside him, he must learn to control it and temper the very emotions that threaten the lives of everyone he cares for. Zombies, demons, vampires, shapeshifters- another day in the life of Nick Gautier– and those are just his friends.
